The Dome Living Difference

More than just buying a dome

A geodesic dome is a significant purchase, and while many domes may look similar at first glance, the experience behind them can be very different.

At Dome Living, we offer more than just a product. We provide practical guidance, real-world experience, and local New Zealand support to help you make the right decision.

We don’t just sell domes - we operate our own working dome accommodation here in New Zealand, giving us firsthand insight into what works in real conditions, what guests love, and the practical realities of setup, weather performance, comfort, and maintenance.

Because we’re based in New Zealand, you can speak with someone who understands local conditions and practical considerations before, during, and after your purchase.

Not all domes are created equal. Frame strength, cover materials, insulation, anchoring, and overall configurations can vary significantly.

We focus on practical, durable dome solutions suited to New Zealand conditions, including wind, rain, UV, and exposed sites.

A dome project often involves more than just the structure itself. We’re happy to help guide you through practical considerations such as shipping, delivery, installation, foundations, site preparation, planning, compliance, and project suitability.

Every project is different, which is why we offer multiple dome sizes, upgrade options, door configurations, insulation choices, and accessories to help create the right solution for your vision.

We believe in honest advice, realistic expectations, and straightforward communication throughout the process.

Notes:

  1. Height v diameter: Geodesic domes sized 5–8 meters use a 3V structure, giving them a slightly taller profile than a hemisphere. Domes of 9 and 10 meters use a 5V structure due to the larger span, resulting in a smoother, more spherical shape.
  2. Floor Area: is a close approximation
  3. Build Time: Timeframes depend on experience, team size, site conditions, weather and chosen foundations.
