Natural ground installation

Suitable for situations with appropriate preparation and anchoring.

Ideal For:
  • Temporary setups
  • Lighter builds

Note:
With proper preparation, domes can anchor straight into compacted earth using heavy steel ground stakes. Suitability depends on site conditions.

Anchoring Matters

A dome's real-world performance depends heavily on how it is anchored.
Wind resistance is not simply about the dome frame. It also depends on:

  • Foundation Engineering
  • Anchoring Method Choice
  • Installation Precision Quality
  • Site Exposure Metrics
  • Intended Lifetime Use Structure

Correct anchoring is essential, particularly in exposed or coastal locations across New Zealand.

Typical Dome Anchoring Methods

Deck Anchor

Deck Anchor

Secured to timber platforms or structural decks.

Concrete Anchor

Concrete Anchor

Chemical or expansion bolts driven directly into concrete.

Ground Stake

Ground Stake

Heavy steel 500mm stakes optimized for dense compacted earth.

Strong Anchoring
Strong Performance

Good anchoring, on the right foundation, ensures your dome performs beautifully and remains completely secure under challenging New Zealand weather conditions.

Installation Options

DIY Installation

Many customers choose to self-install, particularly smaller footprint domes. You will need practical assembly skills, multiple people, appropriate toolsets, and safe working practices.

Professional Installation

For larger domes or more demanding layouts, professional setup can reduce stress and guarantee precise framework geometric alignment.

As a guide, having 2 to 3 people minimum is highly recommended for safety.

Typical Installation Timeframes

Approximate assembly times once your base foundation option is fully completed:

Geodesic Dome

5m – 6m Dome
1 – 2 Days

Geodesic Dome

7m – 8m Dome
2 – 4 Days

Geodesic Dome

9m – 10m Dome
3 – 5 Days

Timeframes depend on experience, team size, site conditions, weather and chosen foundations.
